Here is my recipe for a bad way to spend a Saturday 1) attend your boss' memorial service in the morning 2) spend the afternoon at the emergency vet because your dog ate a bag of chocolate Actually, the service was very nice, and the doggie is fine, so it all turned out ok. Still, not the way I would choose to spend the day. That is all. |

I mowed the lawn today, first time this year. It was overdue. Need to edge, but was thwarted by my stupidass battery powered string trimmer. I also chopped down an entire yard waste roll cart of random dead stuff. I'm going to have to do that several more times to get everything cleaned up. Yuck. Did someone say "yuppie" ? |

This morning, I saw a smartcar and a hummer driving together on highway 26. The smartcar was keeping its distance from the hummer. At first I thought the smartcar was afraid of the hummer, but then I realized that it was just having trouble driving up the hill. In other news, I have started to use twitter. Scary, eh? |

One of my gmail web clips is "101 Cookbooks", which has proved to be useful. For the last few days, it's been showing "101 Cookbooks - Almost Cheeseless Pasta Casserole - Feb 18". I misread this, every time, as "almost cheerless". |

Such is the excitement of my life that I feel compelled to mention that I have a new stove. I have learned from this, not to trust owner's manuals when they say "may produce a little smoke upon first use". I think if the smoke detectors go off, and I have to open windows and use fans, it isn't "a little" smoke. Had the same problem when the heat exchanger for the furnace was replaced... the replacement parts must have been marinating in some sort of coating oil. Next appliance up is the dishwasher -- let us hope that the technician doesn't find a way to make that smoke. |
